I drained it for birdie and a 77. Best score of my life. I started back playing (hitting range balls) three years ago after not playing for 20 years. I’ve had a couple of good chances. I was 3 over after 12 and dumped two in the water on the Par 3 13th. Another time I needed one par over the last three holes.

Today I was 3 over after 12 and started having flashbacks but didn’t blow up down the stretch. The ball striking was exquisite for me as I hit 13 GIR and only missed two fairways. After my last round I was really discouraged. I had a long range session and finally got out of my own way with the driver by starting over from scratch.

I don’t know how many rounds I have left after the MRI on my back last week so today’s opportunity felt a little different. I got really good mental support from from my playing partners. One of them had the best expression of frustration ever on the golf course, “Golf is fun!”

Congrats! Im glad you didn’t blaze it past the hole and into the pond.

    Congrats!

As for the back, you really never know. You can have two people with identical MRI’s, and one person is effectively crippled and the other person feels great. Some people respond really well to physical therapy, some do well with surgery, and some people never seem to find relief.

I had a full blown herniation / rupture at L4/L5 five years ago, and was fortunate to respond really well to physical therapy. I don’t know that it will ever be 100%, but I can still play at a pretty high level relative to where I was before the injury. I have fewer back problems now than I did in the years leading up to the rupture.

Damn 13 GIR and only 2 missed fairways? That’s impressive!

How many putts? I would guessed with those numbers the round would be mid 70s at most.

Was fairly certain from the title you left that 1st putt 3-4′ short. Congrats!

I hope your back gets better my man.

I tweaked mine really bad a few weeks ago and it scared the crap out of me.

    Congrats on the 77

I played with a random last year that drove the green on a short par 4. Hit the drive of his life to 15 feet and 4 putted. Watched his soul leave his body in real time.

I stoped playing after L4-L5 surgery almost 20 years ago. Picked it back up this summer and am having a blast. It’s great to be back out there, isn’t it?

About 26 years ago, I shot my best round ever. 74. Life happened, and kids and their sports, my game slipped to a 22 handicap. Feeling discouraged, I was thinking of getting new irons. Then, all of a sudden, in 2019 I was playing more and took my son golfing. I was 1 under on the front and made it to hole 18 (3 over) par. I was a bit nervous and hit my drive down the middle. My second shot, I was just short of the green with a front pin. Well, I ended up paring the hole and finished with my second best round ever. 75. I know I’m capable of hitting the shots but lack consistency. It’s fun when you can play well.

Congratulations on your round! Keep hitting them straight.

Congrats man it truly feels awesome when you put 18 holes together and do something that you’ve never done before. The mental game is more important than any swing thought or feel you might have I’ve come to learn. I hope you can continue to play golf and enjoy the gift that is hitting a white ball around. God bless

You don’t need 3 putts, one will do. Don’t think about 3 putts ever. Well done!

Congrats buddy, I haven’t been able to play for 8 months now because of a frozen shoulder. Happy to see others experience the highs of this game.

I would have hit it 4x past the distance of the cup. I’d be sub 80 if I could fucking putt. Haha
